Courtney and Caitlyn Graduate from High School

“Don’t let your fears overwhelm your desire. Let the barriers you face—and there will be barriers—be external, not internal. Fortune does favor the bold, and I promise that you will never know what you’re capable of unless you try.”– Sheryl Sandberg

As the month of May  draws to an end our home is a buzz with a little more craziness than usual.  The days are drawing close to the end of a chapter in our lives as the girls prepare to graduate from High School. This graduation is especially bitter sweet as the girls are the last of the children to leave the nest.

For those of you who don’t know our story, we are a blended family.  Dale was divorced when we met and has 2 sons from his previous marriage and I was a widow when we met and the girls  are my babies.   Married in 2013,  we have watched them all grow not only physically but also mature into great young adults all leading or preparing to lead amazing lives.

Like most mama’s thinking about their babies leaving the nest I am sitting here with tears running down my cheeks, oh….major mommy moment! Dale says that the tears should not be for sadness but for accomplishment and success as they have made it to the end  of their childhood school days.

The past 12 years have yielded some awesome memories for the girls.  Vacations different places each year, hiking, fun day trips, four-wheeler’ s and bicycles  the I always told them the could try anything and everything they wanted to do.  From basketball to dance, softball to soccer you name it they have tried it. Their favorite being softball. Softball has given them some special friendships,  the long Saturdays playing travel ball and the years of little league have taught them some valuable lessons. Sportsmanship, hard work, discipline and honesty.

Now as I end my rambling, lol, as a parent when you never stop praying for them. The areas of guidance being for their friends, the new people they meet. That they be the right people needed in their lives. For relationships, of all kinds, especially those that could lead to marriage. The  classes  they take, their career choice and the list goes on.  In the end this new season of life shall reap more memories and cultivate a path to the next season of life that follows.

Courtney and Caitlyn we could not be any prouder than what we are right now. Your hard work has paid off and as you walk across that stage tonight know that you are loved more than you know and all we want for you is a life time of happiness. The future is yours, dreams are made to become real life plans, now take a breath and go get’em!

God’s plan for you is always unfolding, keep Him first in everything and you will not fail.

Love you lots,

Mom and Dale

Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test, and don’t ask why
It’s not a question, but a lesson learned in time
It’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right
I hope you had the time of your life
So take the photographs, and still-frames in your mind
Hang them on a shelf in good health and good time
Tattoo’s of memories and dead skin on trial
For what it’s worth, it was worth all the while
It’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right
I hope you had the time of your life
It’s something unpredictable, but in the end is right
I hope you had the time of your life
It’s something unpredictable, but in the end is right
I hope you had the time of your life — Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) — Greenday
