Mountain Rose Vineyards Wise, Virginia Summer Wedding

Kristina and Shawn were married June 2, 2018 at Mountain Rose Vineyard in Wise, Virginia.  Nestled in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains and what used to be a booming coal community you will find  Mountain Rose Vineyard located near the Wise County Airport and The University of Virginia’s College at Wise. Using reclaimed mining land The Lawson’s and business partners have turned a dream into a reality. Their story is simple and  their ambition to bring this dream to life is amazing. Here is the story behind the name:

“The Name, “Mountain Rose”

“Mountain Rose”, has its own unique history that adds a beautiful, almost magical element to David’s story. The “Mountain Rose” is a seventh generation family heirloom rose passed down through the family and is only one of the over 100 rose varieties found throughout the vineyard. Traditionally, roses in vineyards are considered “the canary in the mine”. If certain diseases show up on the roses, before they are apparent in the vineyard, it can serve as warning or indicator. The vineyards themselves are like a “rose” in the mountains to us, and many others!”

Shawn and Kristina started their day with the  girls getting ready at the bride’s parents home and the guys at the couple’s home. While the girls were working hard on getting ready the guys were busy grilling stakes with baked potatoes, hanging out enjoying the air conditioning.

Kristina wore a beautiful custom flowing, lace gown by Casablanca Bridal from at Tricia’s By Design with gorgeous Kate Spade shoes. Her make up was flawless and natural complimenting her features. Shawn wore a dark gray suite from the Glass Slipper Boutique, accented by a delicate boutonniere matching the brides bouquet.

The weather this year has been all over the place and like many other days the chance for rain and strong storms loomed and showed signs of threat all day. As ceremony time approached the threat of a severe storm skirted the venue and  postponed  the ceremony a few minutes.  After the small shower stopped the ominous clouds opened to patchy blue skies and sunshine.

Shawn and Kristina, thank you for allowing us to share in your special day.  Always keep God first and family close.

Wishing you many blessed years together!

Dale and Rebecca
