This past Saturday we woke early and headed to the Breaks Interstate Park for Darcie and Caleb’s spring engagement session. Located in Southwest Virginia, bordering Kentucky among the Jefferson National forest, the Breaks is known as the “Grand Canyon of the South”. The 5 mile gorge is home to the Russel Fork river which is notorious for its class 5 rapids , lots of beautiful overlooks, lake and miles of hiking trails.
The park has a sentimental connection, as this is where Caleb to proposed to Darcie this past winter. While we didn’t have any snow Saturday the weather could not have been more perfect. The sweet spring air, lots of sunshine and cool temperatures added a sweet cheer to the vibe of the morning.
As we started the session, the first place we chose was the overlook where Caleb Proposed. Pinnacle Rock overlook is a large cliff outcropping overlooking the valley and Clichfield Raiload below. The light through the pines, the rocks and breeze made for the perfect spot to start the session. We can see why Caleb chose this spot to propose to Darcie!
From there we made stops at the lake and after a quick change we headed back to our original spot followed by a walk through a mountain laurel canopy then finished at The Towers Overlook which provides a beautiful view of the valley and Russel Fork River Below.
We are so happy for these two and look forward to the Wedding this August at Grace Meadows Farm.
